Welcome to the diet and Vision Study

An ancillary study to the Women’s Health Initiative

Age-related vision loss is common in the United States and across the world, and it is becoming more common as people live longer. The Diet and Vision Study 2 is a sub-study of the Women’s Health Initiative, funded by the National Eye Institute. This study is led by researchers at University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Iowa, and Oregon Health & Science University, and is a follow-up of the original Diet and Vision Study which took place from 2001-2004.

The purpose of this study is to find out whether the levels of plant pigments measured in your eyes may influence your eye health. We will also study how your diet and lifestyle may influence your eye health. These results will build on the valuable information we discovered from the original Diet and Vision Study and the Women’s Health Initiative to preserve healthy vision as we age.
